There are a couple of ends of this melarky. There is design, we need it for flyers, websites, and generally just getting businesses marketed so they can get the sales they need…then there is the extreme end of design, which I believe becomes art.

It’s a joy to see this in action and even more of a joy to be part of, and even inside of…

You guessed it, we are once again venturing to Disneyworld.

Disney pays attention to the details that no other company can afford to, they believe those details matter, and sometimes they do.

A few years back we found an unbelievably cheap holiday online. It was going to one of the premium disneyworld hotels, and didn’t cost very much at all. I wish we hadn’t gone on that holiday to that hotel. It changed my mind.

2631759-Disneys-Animal-Kingdom-Lodge-Hotel-Exterior-10 I ramble of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge (I’ll spare you the details of onsite facilities) This is beyond Disney, beyond architecture and becomes something else completely. I’m sure nobody else cares, but there is something about this place that took root in my soul and just wont leave, I dream of this place weekly, it has become the home of my happy…(its going to get hippy-er, bare with me)

disney-animal-kingdom-lodge-floridaThe level of detail brings me to tears. Everything has been researched, thought about and built with perfection. From the guy who says ‘Welcome Home’ when you pull in to the carpark, to the subtle music, the authentic planting, the african Art and the oaky woody smells they pump around the building.

imagesJoe Rhode I believe was responsible for this fusion of wonders, he hasn’t created a hotel, it’s an experience, some form of ultimate design or art that you live inside and take with you everywhere.

As usual there is no summary or ending to this blog posting, as usual its a rant. I just thought it was worth exploring the ultimate end of what design can get you.

Of course nobody can afford such majestic wonders, but imagine if you could, and the beautiful things you could create…

Hello there. Its a while since you have had to endure a ramble from me.

Its been a rather manic week, although it always seems to be a manic week, I’d have it no other way.

I dont really have anything interesting to force upon you, apologies as always with the lack of design / font & colour news. I feel that we should be providing you with up to the minute news on the latest fonts, the latest design trends and the latest colours to be released from pantone HQ… but that wouldn’t be very curlykale. Do you actually care that there is a new red that is a little darker, yet a tiny bit lighter than another one? ..I don’t…is that very wrong of me?

Its been all a go go here at curlytowers ™ We’re growing. We are working on some big things for some rather big chaps, and doing more and more of it every day, and its wonderful. But (apparently (according to dear daddy kale) sentences shouldn’t be started with ‘but’) I’m determined we remain approachable for the everyday chap and lass…nothing gives me greater joy than to hear the knock at the door and a couple walk in with an idea they have been sitting on, the idea that will change their lives, something they have been dreaming about..and they have decided to share it with us. Its a tremendous honour. Its not just a website / flyer / logo, its their life.

It amazes me every day that you guys decide to choose Curlykale, it really does… it means so much.

For somebody who had nothing to say I seem to have crammed a few paragraphs out, apologies once more if you have had to read this. I just want to get across my appreciation for you guys ringing us up, I know there are so many web design companies out there, if I could afford to take you all to Disneyworld I would.

As a thank you (and reward) for reading this, here is some NEW disney fountain action in Paris.

Another blog posting not related to packaging, printing or purple pantones.

Shock horror today we have another Disney moment. I know we (I) rant constantly about Disney,  but its nearly always a perfect example of perfect. Some chaps have sat down and really had a jolly good think about ART, these moments haven’t been created to be nice, pretty, shiny or to sell anything – these little moments have been created to be just that, little bits of a tasty orange that convey an emotion and stick with you forever…something that transcends and floats above ’design’

We will post about something designy soon – promise

Try giving these a clicky…….

After the excesses of yesterdays ‘pantone pantone’ I thought Id get us back to business…Disney.

Have you seen Tangled? If not, please do, or at least watch this short clip. Its so nice to see that somewhere, somewhere in some caffeinated office, people are really having a jolly good think about art and making beautiful things….and if Alan Menken is involved, you simply cant go wrong

I love goosebumps. I love the goosebumps you can get when everything is just perfect, the perfect sights, smells and sounds.

I’m sure there are those that hate Disney and the commercialism, and its true they do love taking your coins off you. But in return they allow you to switch yourself off and envelop yourself in a warm, soft smooth world where everything is perfect. Everything has been thought about, everything themed and well designed.

Yet again this only very loosely relates to design…but good design, well thought out art / music whatever is a special thing, and if done very well can bring a shiver, a goosebump or possibly even a slight shudder.

If you’d like to create goosebumps give us a call!
