I think curlykale lives in a little special world that few other design company reside. We are nowhere near a back bedroom operation and we certainly are not a big design company. We are a small business in a small cramped office…and I adore where and what we are.
We work with a lot of similar businesses, from start ups to family run businesses, (we have also recently attracted some bigger businesses who seem to like our no-messing-around attitude but this is not part of this particular ramble)
It really is a joy to meet so many businesses of a similar size. Today I spent a glorious 3 hours in the sun wandering around a retirement village home complex with it’s owner. They are a small family run business who are investing in a new website, we chatted about this and that and rambled on and on about keeping a small business running and came to the conclusion that it’s quite hard work.
I’m sure any small business owner will relate to this, but it takes sacrifice and sheer mental strength to keep a little company running, you are responsible for getting work in, paying the wages, paying the tax, paying for marketing, researching the marketing, researching and planning, planning and worrying and researching… there is no switching off, no watching TV at night like everybody else, your brain constantly thinks, plans and worries.
Everything you pay for is money away from your food and personal little things.
For this reason it makes me so proud that so many small business owners choose to spend their extremely hard earnt money with curlykale. As you may have guessed from the poorly constructed ramble above, I too worry, plan, research and dedicate my brain to my business. If I get an email at 11 at night from a client who is worried about something or is in a pickle, I simply can’t rest until I have made everything ok again for them.
This blog ramble has no conclusion or decent ending. I’d just like to deeply thank everybody that uses us and raise a salute to small business owners everywhere…it’s hard hard going, but we are with you. We have no mega contracts with the NHS or the council, we dont drive around in sports cars and the desks we sit at are ikea seconds. We really rely on you guys to keep us afloat, and for that I am deeply grateful, investing in a website is a lot of money, I promise to make it worth your while and ensure you get the best service we can
