I recently stayed in a spa hotel in Warwickshire, a very nice country manor with beautiful grounds and 4 stars to boot. I arrived with 2 of my girl friends, we had organised a surprise weekend for another friend who was to arrive at the hotel later.

I can’t tell you how accommodating the hotel was in organising the decoration of the room and letting us check in 5 hours (!) early, which is often unheard of! The reception staff helped us carry the cakes and all the presents to the room, and even gave us a single room each when we had only booked 2 rooms.

Now then, this hotel also had on two HUGE weddings on the same day, but we (4 girls paying a bargain spa break rate from lastminute.com) were looked after so well irregardless. Those weddings must have cost £10k plus each, so some hotels would have been focussing on these rather than us lot!

There is a point to this story!
