I know it is terribly untrendy of me but I like my stats and my graphs. Of course I’m not interested in the boring ones like oil prices or sticks,(meant stocks but sticks sound like fun) although done correctly they can be fun to look at also. We some times have the stats on the wall from google and its very interesting watching it live, numbers going up and down and such all very good fun. Facts are always easier to understand when given to us in a format we can engage with.

If you don’t know it well here is a quick summary. Preston guild is a celebration that happens every 20 years and the people of Preston celebrate the awarding of the right to hold a merchant guild (right to sell goods) in the town. It is the only place in the UK to celebrate this and is said to be the only one of its kind in the world.

As most of the curlykale staff aren’t from Preston they were a bit confused about the whole event but I was born here so have first hand knowledge. Going back 20 years, I was 9 (makes me very old) and I took part in the school concert on the park. Each school preformed different things highlighting Preston. My cousin was a house and I was a snooker pocket. Yes I was dressed in brown fabric, held my arms up and joined the other three lads who made up the rest of the pocket.

People from my school make up a giant snooker table,with cue, and played out a few shots, all very slowly might I add. Sadly I was not part of one of the pockets that saw any action but was happy to be part of it. I also remember it being very muddy and rainy. My parents took me to see the parades in town but I don’t remember much if anything from those, just plenty of walking. Apparently the street I live on now came first for best street party several ‘Guilds’ ago.

As it is another ‘Guild’ year all this is happening again and I look forward to some fun fireworks later on this year. However I will not be dressing up as a snooker pocket this time.

Things have been changing at curly towers and glad to be busy busy. We even have a work experience chap called Alex, who is enjoying every tremendous design task that is sent his way (with added cats)

With spring in full action we see new life and a new season paving the way for the sun. It is this time of the year that makes me feel very positive, a time when I feel like things can really get going and I even venture outside without the aid of a very thick woolly jumper. More and more people are spending more time outside of the office and we have noticed it here at curly towers. We are so pleased to see a new face pop in for chat or a friendly voice on the phone who we have worked with before. So if your have an idea that you have been mulling over for a while why not do it at this prefect time of the year! It will be Christmas again before we know it

I shall now publish this post and enjoy the view the window provides me while enjoying a tasty cup of cheap coffee (which is actually quite nice)

The thing with bank holidays they throw everything off balance, Saturdays don’t feel like Saturdays and Sunday defiantly didn’t feel like Sunday. Even today, Tuesday doesn’t feel like Tuesday.

Here in Preston Easter sees the tradition of egg rolling down a hill. Ever since I was a kid I would be dressed up and taken to the nearest park with a decent hill, usually Avenham park. Then each chocolate egg was bagged up and rolled down the hill until it was broken and the eating would begin. I’m not too sure why eggs where rolled down a hill but it has been a tradtion in Preston for many years before I was born. After a quick Google I have found out they do it outside the white house in the US as well! (+2 points for interesting fact)

Anyway its back to work with more design and web based things, lets hope more warmth and sun appear above us!

Some of you may already know me as I have being working here for over 2 years, however I have known Adam a lot longer so I am accustom to the quirky ways at Curly towers!

I do enjoy working here as it has a very nice approach to business and dealing with clients.  Always friendly and ready to help with any web or SEO issues but what impresses me the most is the high level of cat content. There can never be enough cats

This one is far too interesting, almost didn’t put it up

Its got a little manic as everybody trys to get all of their projects in and sorted before the new year..now really is your last chance to get in touch if you need something before the Christmas break.

We are closing down the towers on the 16th, but no doubt I’ll still be available on the email if you have urgent bits and bobs you forgot.

This Monday has been busy with logo design flying around and and people bobbing by. We have even had a spider attack in the towers, which was very carefully placed outside of the office windows (yes we have more then one!) Oh and we have spaced out our coffee intake with a strategically tea placed between them. As to much coffee can send us crazy.

Well back to work as design is happening as I type.

One thing for sure we are seeing plenty of lovely new clients in the last few weeks, one minute we don’t have any meetings and then we are fully booked up.

We are looking forward to having some good old fashioned cold weather and putting the heating on and have the raining and wind swirling around outside. We at the kale towers do love a nice bit of heavy rain!

Or course, as much as I moan, I adore it manic. I love the knock at the door not knowing who is coming in next, either previous clients bobbing in for a chat, or wonderful new friends with their exciting projects. In the past few months we have welcomed aboard at least another 30 wonderful people into the curlykale fold, branding projects for food establishments, estate agents, web based directories, photographers, solicitors, musicians…and gosh, so much seo action that we had to upgrade our broadband package.

We’re ready for the next bit, over the bank holiday I cleaned the office, hoovered the floor and first thing Tuesday I’ll be waiting in line at argos to get a better phone (our current chap completely gave in Friday afternoon)
