Dear reader, I did have an epic post and ramble, but deleted it all as the video says everything I want to.

Have a lovely evening you wonderful people :-)

Fans of fonts & pantones may want to skip over this posting.

I have a strange interest in music videos. Something about the process of applying moving image to music seems to tick all my boxes. This one has been in my brain for a good few years, and I’ve only just managed to dig it out of the far left patch of my brain (it was left under a couple of passwords for some ftp accounts)

I tried to replicate something similar at Lytham beach with an old chair and a very fast tide… didn’t work out quite as good.

Enjoy your weekend :-)

Its been such a busy week at curlytowers(tm) we’ve had so many people bobbing by that I’ve had to buy a calendar out of the office petty cash (pound coins I found in a drawer ). I thought it may be a good time to describe how we see things, how we work, and if we are right for you.

We are a rather small company. We work from a lovely office that we adore upstairs in the wonderful Remedy Centre in Preston (they can fix anything thats bothering you!) We are extremely proud of the fact that we have a sign outside.

We believe in what we term the business rules of ‘cricket’ or fair play. We treat our clients exactly as we would like to be treated. If we were running a business and wanted some design work / seo / graphic design we would want:

  • Some really nice guys we could talk to on the phone and ask endless amounts of questions
  • Really really quick response to any emails
  • Have a physical presence, an office we could visit  to have a chat rather than a back bedroom operation that could shut up shop any day
  • Mockups before we pay anything, and when we do pay, would want flexible options to pay
  • …most importantly, and rather cheap of ourselves, we would want somebody cheap

This matter of money / cost / price is built-in quite deeply to the Curlykale world.

When it boils down to it, we don’t charge very much. True, you can get websites and design work done cheaper from freelancers and certainly offshore. But you can also pay a lot (LOT) more. In the past week we have had wonderful people bob by who have been quoted at least 400% more than our quotation.

We strongly believe you may not have to pay a large amount of money. The web and general technology is moving on at such a rapid pace, developments such as wordpress, joomla and other fantastic content management systems enable the costs of webdesign to plummet. We want to pass these savings on to you.

If you want a completely bespoke website build, built from scratch, that has taken weeks of design and flipcharting we may not be the guys for you. If you want somebody to spend weeks agonising over a brand, pouring over font books, researching colours, trends and curves, we may not be the guys for you.

If you want a beautiful website that converts, need a flyer designed, need a logo or need your website on the first page, and just need everything to work and earn you some money, and you dont want to spend bags of money, please give us a ring.

We’ve been working with local clients now for over ten years. We have formed some fantastic relationships. What gets us up in the morning is knowing we are making a difference to small businesses looking to grow. We don’t have a trendy office, we don’t have trendy cars, and we don’t do lunch meetings with trendy coffee. We are far from corporate, and as you have just learnt, only recently purchased a calendar.

If you are looking for down to earth, friendly people to work with, please give us a call.

I do hope I havent rambled on too long!

Enjoy your weekends :-)

This fascinates me….

We all see something slightly differently, we all embed our own meaning and visions into what we see. Hope you enjoy the very same thing, done three different ways…….which do you prefer? (first seen here: http://www.loope.co.uk/2011/06/music-to-action/)

Another blog posting not related to packaging, printing or purple pantones.

Shock horror today we have another Disney moment. I know we (I) rant constantly about Disney,  but its nearly always a perfect example of perfect. Some chaps have sat down and really had a jolly good think about ART, these moments haven’t been created to be nice, pretty, shiny or to sell anything – these little moments have been created to be just that, little bits of a tasty orange that convey an emotion and stick with you forever…something that transcends and floats above ’design’

We will post about something designy soon – promise

Try giving these a clicky…….

Golly golly jumpy. Its rather busy at curlytowers ™ at the moment, apologies for the lack of fascinating blog comments (I know you all enjoyed the recent pantone epic)

In the last few weeks we have been finishing off some massive ecommerce projects alongside welcoming some new wonderful clients on board.

I’m afraid that’s it for this posting, time for another coffee :-)

Have a lovely day!

UPDATE: Couldn’t leave without any visual niceness:

After the excesses of yesterdays ‘pantone pantone’ I thought Id get us back to business…Disney.

Have you seen Tangled? If not, please do, or at least watch this short clip. Its so nice to see that somewhere, somewhere in some caffeinated office, people are really having a jolly good think about art and making beautiful things….and if Alan Menken is involved, you simply cant go wrong

One day, one day soon we will blog about pantone and css and other designy things…possibly.

I used to be a mega fan of Harry Potter, but feel it peaked with the glorious darkness of the 3rd film, and then seemed to take a new direction with the later films – they seems empty of ‘Art’ or ‘Design’ or just ‘something’ that the third film seemed to have.

Finally managed to watch the recent film, struggled a little with it, until this glorious 3 minute section, beautiful work, three cheers and a raised coffee to whoever was responsible
